Welcome back to our Community News series by Asian Media Network, where we amplify the voices behind Arizona’s SB1301 — a bill that would require Asian American history to be taught in K–12 public schools.

Why is SB1301 important?
Asian American contributions are often overlooked in U.S. history education. SB1301 helps ensure that all students learn a fuller, richer story — and that Asian American youth see themselves reflected in what they’re taught.

But the bill is at a standstill. Despite passing the Senate and Education Committee, SB1301 is stuck in the Rules Committee — and won’t move unless House Speaker Steve Montenegro brings it to the floor for a vote.

The clock is ticking with less than two weeks left in the legislative session.
